A Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLibISc) is an undergraduate course that teaches students about library science, including management, preservation, and maintenance of information. The course also covers the administration, distribution, and organization of information in various formats. The goal of the course is to equip graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to manage libraries and efficiently retrieve and organize information. 

 The course is usually divided into two semesters and covers topics such as:

  • Classification
  • Cataloguing
  • Database types and functions
  • Resource management tools and strategies
  • Information technology
  • Book management
  • Consumer demands for recommending books

  • The admission process for this course varies by university. Some universities allow direct admission based on marks, while others conduct entrance examinations. Students can study the course full-time or part-time. 

    To be eligible for the B.Lib.I.Sc. course, candidates usually need to complete a bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50–55% marks. Some colleges may also require students to pass an entrance exam. Professional work experience in a recognized library or information unit may also be considered for admission.
